Fight Club 1/10/10

Posters had handwavilyshhhh! gone up in a variety of locations all over the island this week, and now it was Sunday evening, with Ghanima and Tyler waiting in the gym.

"Welcome back to our returning members, and hello to those of you that are new," Ghanima began crisply. "I am Lady Ghanima Atreides, he's Tyler Durden. You should have seen the rules on the door when you came in, and if you don't agree with them, you may turn around and leave now."

Tyler nodded, and folded his arms in a way that suggested he would do the ejecting personally if dissidents didn't go on their own.

... it had seriously been too long since his last fight.

"You've been doing introductions for a week. You're probably sick of it, I know I'm sick of it, let's fight. If there's anything weird about you -- you turn into Jello when somebody punches you, you can't be bruised, you can only fight wearing a cape, whatever -- tell one of us before you go and get hurt or hurt somebody else. For now" -- he gestured into the group -- "you two, you two, you two, and, Ghani, I thinkwe should have matches today. I say you fight the mayor."

"If we're doing exhibition fights, then Miss Walters, please indulge me by showing Tyler how much you've improved," Ghanima said sweetly. "And you and you, as well. Everyone else, grab someone you haven't fought before. Make a new friend, and then hit them."

Claire was very happy to get back to Fight Club. She was a little disappointed to not get called for a fight, but she looked around to see if there was anyone who might be interested in a spar.

Jennifer was definitely ready to get back into the Fight Club groove. She knew she had a lot of room to improve, and she wanted to make the effort to do so.

Hey. She wasn't glad the holidays were over, exactly, but it was hard to feel too stressed when she had a six-day weekend.

She'd missed this, though. Plus she got a match? Awesome. Looking maybe a touch thoughtful, Kennedy got to her warmups and kept an eye out for Dru and any other new faces.

It may have been a little difficult to mingle and stretch at the same time, but Hoshi was doing her best at multitasking today.

This was where Bruce was going to get a good feel for the people of this town. It was a town of fighters, apparently. And he was going to be able to stand back and watch how they...

They called his name, didn't they. And he was fighting a teacher.

Great. Watching was going to have to wait for next week.

Cable didn't care one whit about the holidays one way or another, although they had been... nice. He left Jan where she belonged - in the playpen, where she gleefully slammed things together.

Okay, maybe Fight Club was giving her ideas.

It wasn't so much that Arthur was pleased they were over as that he had been looking forward to getting to fight someone again. He was starting to fear he was getting sloppy; something had to be done.

After the less then successful spar with Dinah the other day, Dru was a little wary about exactly how skilled her fellows students were. She kept reminding herself it was a good learning experience, even if her pride was still a little wounded.

Beka was more than glad the holidays were over and fight club was back. She'd not been called to fight, but she went to warm up in case someone was interested for a match.

Tahiri didn't have a problem with not being called for a match today. Maybe she could sneak out early? If she was going to contemplate that possibility, which she was, she'd at least do it from the comfort of a stack of mats in the corner of the gym.

Makita was there, curious to see what a 'Fight Club' was.

By the time she'd watched the first match, she was cracking her knuckles, looking around for someone to give her a go.

Ben had a lot of energy to burn off, so he went through a very truncated warm-up before looking around for someone to spar against.

So, Kurt edged into the room and lurked in the back. Obviously, he wasn't going to be getting any more lessons in martial arts from Logan while he was on the island, and this "Fight Club" was probably a good way to get practice in. How he was going to manage it without anyone feeling how furry he was, he wasn't quite sure yet.

Firekeeper and Blind Seer sprawled out on a mat that promised a good view of today's matches.

She might fight someone today, she might not, but either way Firekeeper was not warming up beforehand.

Jonothon had nowhere better to be on a Sunday evening, and, though he was still a little put-off by the possibility that his bandages might slip, he always was aching for a good fight.

You know. Leaning against the wall where he was, and all. Looking antisocial and yet not particularly unapproachable all at the same time.

Leia had seen the posters and was curious as if this was a way to learn how to defend herself or just boys beating the crap out of each other. So she decided to take a look for herself and see what this "Fight Club" was like.

Jaina was glad to be able to get back to something that would let her be able to release some excess energy. Plus most of her social circle was here. When had that happened and how was she just now realizing it?

Steve had enjoyed the holidays, but he was glad to be getting back in the swing of things, and was present, stretching out and looking curiously around at any new people.
