Fight Club 1/10/10

Posters had handwavilyshhhh! gone up in a variety of locations all over the island this week, and now it was Sunday evening, with Ghanima and Tyler waiting in the gym.

"Welcome back to our returning members, and hello to those of you that are new," Ghanima began crisply. "I am Lady Ghanima Atreides, he's Tyler Durden. You should have seen the rules on the door when you came in, and if you don't agree with them, you may turn around and leave now."

Tyler nodded, and folded his arms in a way that suggested he would do the ejecting personally if dissidents didn't go on their own.

... it had seriously been too long since his last fight.

"You've been doing introductions for a week. You're probably sick of it, I know I'm sick of it, let's fight. If there's anything weird about you -- you turn into Jello when somebody punches you, you can't be bruised, you can only fight wearing a cape, whatever -- tell one of us before you go and get hurt or hurt somebody else. For now" -- he gestured into the group -- "you two, you two, you two, and, Ghani, I thinkwe should have matches today. I say you fight the mayor."

"If we're doing exhibition fights, then Miss Walters, please indulge me by showing Tyler how much you've improved," Ghanima said sweetly. "And you and you, as well. Everyone else, grab someone you haven't fought before. Make a new friend, and then hit them."

[OOC: OCD up. We are living dangerously and leaving this in the wrong place. Edit: Also, I worded it badly, but yes, you can sign up or drop anytime.]

"Going green has its benefits," Jennifer quipped, throwing a left jab aimed at Tyler's shoulder. She would be aiming for points she hoped wouldn't break, if she connected. She was also holding back, because she didn't want to actually end up hurting him.

"Reducing your" -- Tyler ducked and dodged to the side so the jab wouldn't connect -- "carbon footprint?"

He brought his knee up toward her thigh, but without much force. He didn't need a broken leg.

Jen was starting to realize her best bet would be to just try and absorb the blows and hope to land a couple lucky shots of her own. She didn't have the precision she needed, yet. She had a long way to go before she'd end up being trained by the likes of Captain America and Gamora.

She took the knee to the leg, which did sting a little. She tried to push Tyler off with an snap kick aimed at his stomach.

"I wouldn't worry about my carbon footprint."

The kick missed Tyler's stomach but connected, hard with his hip.

That wasn't much better. He punched at her shoulder before he could think about it too much.

"What footprints should I worry about?"

"That was supposed to be something about my foot and kicking," Jennifer said, sucking in a breath as he hit her shoulder. "I need a little work on my quips."

She lashed out with a wild right swing, aimed vaguely at the level of Tyler's chest.

"Not my strong suit either," Tyler pronounced, and grabbed her foot and shoved, ignoring the sting of the impact. "But you aren't bad."

Jennifer was not ready for that, and toppled over onto her back.

"I just wish my fists were as fast as my mouth," she said, rolling backwards to get back to her feet.

"You'll get there," Tyler said, going back to his corner,. "You already have strength. Endurance. Speed" -- he kicked out, square at her abs -- "speed can come."

Jen doubled over, not expecting the attack after he'd backed off. She caught herself with her hands, and thumped the ground with a fist in a little bit of frustration. There would be a dent in the floor there, possibly.

"I also apparently need defense," she said. It hadn't hurt, but it had still knocked her over.

"You need to watch out for lucky shots," he said, and held out his hand. "Here. I'll help you up. Match?"

Jennifer took the hand and got to her feet. "Match," she agreed. "There's a reason you're in charge here."
