Office Hours, Monday, 3/23

Tyler frowned at the empty Word document in which he was trying to type a lecture for Friday. It turned out even if you only wanted to talk about Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima, World War II was much, much too big to cover in one class.

He wondered if he could cheat and make the class watch a movie again. He was sure there was some Bruckheimer film out there...

The office door was open and he was rather desperately hoping for distraction.

Excruciatingly bad idea. Tyler sipped coffee to keep himself from saying something undiplomatic.

"Yes to the question you actually asked," he said carefully. "No to what you meant. I have a couple ideas that do not involve Stark Industries. Or I'll sell soap again."

"I'm sure Pepper would love to have you around," Tony pointed out. As it was clearly Pepper he was doing this for.

"Pepper," Tyler said, very slowly, "keeps her job because she doesn't sleep with you. Same principle here, but in reverse."

"You're just no fun at all," Tony informed him with a sad little look.

"... oh, don't do that thing with your eyes," Tyler requested. "I am Captain No Fun on this one, okay?"

"Why do I now think someone by that name exists?" Tony asked, waving off any concerns about the thing he did with his eyes.

"He probably does?" Tyler suggested, happy to change the subject. "We have a Captain Hammer this term. Captain No-Fun's not any stupider."

"I haven't met him." Then again, Tony assumed most people were very, very dumb.

"Not a loss, from what I've seen," Tyler answered."I wonder if everybody with a superhero name is mildly retarded."

Tyler Durden was not a superhero name. It was something entirely different. Really.

Like he even picked his. "The media and our lovely friends at SHIELD picked mine."

"... which is?" Look, some things hadn't come up in the last six months.

"Iron Man." Tony rolled his eyes. "It's a titanium alloy. Nothing like iron."

Tyler cracked up. "But you get a theme song."

Which he would helpfully hum, just in case Tony didn't know it.

"Well." Tony smirked. "There is that."

"Just helping you see the up side," Tyler reported.

"Music, scientific reality..." Tony nodded seriously. "They even out."

"Right, right," Tyler said. "Of course. Hey, do you want to have dinner this week?"

"Did you have ideas?"

"I usually do," Tyler said, without modesty. "Either the Mexican place or the mainland. I'm sick of the Italian place and Outback is just disturbing."

"I'll meet you there Thursday," Tyler promised.
