33 Apocalypse Ave., Sunday Evening

Tyler paced the front porch, dribbling a basketball and waiting for Murdock. He'd made plans to show the other teacher the rooms free in the house; it kept getting quieter as people moved out, and now it was just him and the kid who said he was a doctor.

But possibly not for long.

"Handy then," he grinned.

Following Tyler, Murdock peered around the rest of the house, then headed down the stairs. "Huh. Large. Kinda dark though." Murdock studied it a bit more then shook his head, "I think we can move on, man. Nice, but not really my thing." His bounce seemed to have left him a bit. Huh.

"It's a nice basement, but I don't blame you," Tyler agreed, then bounded up the stairs. "There are three free rooms on the top floor. One's kinda skimpy, so it's just storage, but the other two are decent."

Murdock bounced up after him, taking the steps two at a time. "There's always a skimpy one, ain't there," he smirked. "How many people you got here currently? I know Steve just moved out. Used to be my teaching buddy."

"Always," Tyler said. "Dunno why they thought people would want four little rooms instead of three big ones, but they did."

He looked a little embarrassed when he turned to face Murdock. "Right now, just me and Howser," he said. "He's a doctor, even though he looks more like a student. When I took over the old landlord told me she'd just had three teachers move out."

"You could always knock a wall out," he suggested, shrugging. "Unless you prefer the storage space."

He cocked an eyebrow slightly. "Just the two of ya? Must be pretty quiet around here then." A fact which would probably change quickly with Murdock around. "Howser..." he thought about that for a second. "Nope. Ain't met him. Could be useful havin' a doctor as a housemate," he grinned.

"I don't mind the quiet," Tyler admitted. "But yeah. It's quiet even when he's here." Which, he was beginning to suspect, was something Murdock would change. "You taught flight, right? I think this one used to be Skywalker's." He gestured to the larger of the vacant upstairs rooms.

"Quiet's nice," he replied absently. But only at brief intervals. Murdock was more of a...active person.

"Yep!" he grinned hugely. "Love flyin'! Had to opt for a brief change for the second term though." No, that wasn't a pout. Not really. "I heard about Skywalker a little," he replied, glancing around some more. "Sounds like an interestin' dude."

"Jedi," Tyler quickly explained. "Like a monk from space thing. he just got married to a girl who went to school here too, he's another one of us fun time travelers."

He shrugged. "His old room's yours, if you want it. Or ... any of them."

He grinned, "Time travelin' seems to be a common theme around here. I'm from about 20 years back myself, give or take a few."

Leaning against a nearby wall, he thought about it for a minute. "The garage. Closer to the kitchen," he smirked.

"I'm from ten years up," Tyler ventured. "And then the garage is yours. Want to go handwavily take care of the paperwork, sign over your firstborn, all of that?"

"Not so far off then," he replied. "Sure! Not that I got any firstborn to hand over," he smirked. "I'd say you could have my sanity, but I already lost that too."

"Sanity, money, blood, I'll take whatever," Tyler said amiably. "I didn't have a firstborn either. The last landlord settled for me promising that if I did have one I'd teach it to rock out." He hesitated. "She was in a band or something."

"How 'bout we go for the money, and opt to work something out for a back-up?" he grinned. "'Rock out'?" He chuckled a bit, "Sounds like my kind of person."

"Seriously though, I'm good for whatever the rent is. Cash, however. Don't mess with plastic or checks much." Mainly because it was difficult to secure either as a mental patient. Plus, they tended to leave trails. Not what one wanted operating as a merc with a couple of wanted fugitives for teammates.

"I pay cash too," Tyler assured him. "Bank doesn't care." He handwavily went over how much was due and when. "If it's gonna be late, let me know so it's covered and I don't think you skipped town."

He nodded. "Shouldn't be a problem. I might have to run some errands now and then, but I'll make arrangements in case somethin' ever comes up." Hopefully, it won't involve another kidnapping.

He signed whatever was necessary and grinned at Tyler. "Looks like you got a new roomie. When can I move in?"

Tyler handed over a key. "Whenever you can get your stuff here. I'm at the office tomorrow, and I teach Friday, but I'd be around to help the rest of the week."

Murdock stuffed the key into his inside jacket pocket. "Thanks man. Shouldn't really need much help, though. I ain't got that much. Just need to close out at the hotel and haul a few bags over. Possibly Tuesday? I got class on Wednesday and office hours Thursday."

"Tuesday works," Tyler said, allowing a small smile. "See you then."
