Office Hours, Tuesday, July 1

The schedule of classes for next term was out, and Tyler was just as happy to have explosions back in Aly's hands and to be doing something a bit less fatal.

He really had mellowed.

He wasn't sure if he needed to be in his office over break, but he went anyhow, mostly for something to do. A sign by the door noted he was interviewing TAs.

Meg blushed. "I wouldn't say I kicked ass. More like, uh, kicked crotch."

"Crotch works better anyhow," Tyler advised sagely. "So, Meg the crotchkicker, what makes you want this TA job?"

She had it, he was just curious what she would say.

"Well, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at that home ec type of stuff," Meg said, wringing her hands together a little. She had never been in an interview sort of position before and she was a little nervous. "And, you know, I'm going to college in the fall so I figure I could use a few tips when it comes to living on my own."

He nodded. "Two excellent reasons," he said. "I don't wanna think about where I ended up the first time I tried to go out on my own, so I hope class helps a little."

"What kind of home ec stuff do you do?"

"I cook a lot. And I can sew a little. Oh, and I know how to use a washing machine," Meg said. She put up her hands. "I know, most normal people can, but where I'm from it's a rare skill."

"Laundry might even be a class if I get desperate for material, and I'll definitely get you to help the week we do cooking," Tyler said. "All right, Meg, you have the job. Nothing too special, just the usual, run class if I get eaten by bears, help students out if anybody looks lost, let me know if you see anything going on that seems like I should know about it. It's an easy gig."

"Did you have questions for me?"

Meg resisted bouncing a little out of happiness. "I don't have any questions at the moment. Thanks so much!"
