Tyler felt sore from yesterday's move, but gratified to have it over and done with. He rubbed his shoulder absently every so often as he bent his head over his preparations for the next class and the science fair.

This semester had flown.

"As long as you didn't give a name it should be fine," Tony replied dismissively. "As far as I know, he's still on the run."

"Nah, I stayed away from specifics," Tyler told him. It's not retconning since the whole statement was handwaved to start with.

"I think I said his name to your babysitter, though. Sorry."

"Miss Boxer? That's fine, she'll need to know that to not bother me about the small thing."

Like the police. Or gamma radiation powered monsters.

Tyler just stared for a moment. "You're counting that mess as a small thing."

"Everything turned out fine." In the end.

"Maybe." Tyler was dubious. "You weren't kidding about her being kind of hot, by the way."

"I hope she didn't threaten to break your arm," Tony said, keeping back his initial response of more bitchiness.

"Not before suggesting I move in, no."

He needed to quit looking so smug.

Tony only froze for a second before going with it. "Well, you would go for that type, I guess."

"She's my type, but nothing's happening," Tyler said, conscience finally getting to him. "She was complaining Friday night about having too much space in her house and I had been ready to move on anyhow."

A beat. "You're paying her too much, by the way. Her place is a mansion."

"Pepper takes care of that." Too much was a relative term when it concerned Tony Stark. He just watched Tyler for a moment before clearing his throat and turning away. "Too crowded with your other housemates?"

"Yeah." That was part of it, anyhow. "Though I am sad I don't live on Apocalypse Avenue anymore."

"What street are you on now?"

"Griffin Way. Much less punk rock."

Tyler was ... not all that punk rock to start with.

"I'm sorry, did I miss you being a Canadian pop star?"

Tyler was utterly lost. "I missed something."

"Maybe that's just where I'm from," Tony said, giving him a confused look right back. "No matter. I wanted to see if you were up for dinner."

"You have to explain it before I start making shit up," Tyler informed him. "But sure. When?"

Was this a date? That was sort of new.

It wasn't a date, it was friends going out. "Whenever works for you. I'll explain then?"

"I can wait," Tyler promised. "How's Wednesday?"

"Perfect." It still wasn't a date. "How does the Italian place sound?"

Like a date.

"I like baked ziti," Tyler allowed. "Meet you there?"

If Tony insisted on picking him up, he was going to get a pedicure before Wednesday. Maybe wax his bikini line, too.

It was a shame that Tony didn't have a car for that reason. The island was too damn small for his beloved cars.

"Meet you there?"

"I think that's the plan," Tyler said.

"Yes, well..." Tony moved forward toward the desk and was almost about to lean down before shaking himself out of whatever that was. "I'll see you then."

Tyler was amused by the almost-lean. No PDA, please, that would be tacky.

"Sounds good."

He would PDA whenever he damn well pleased. Just not with Tyler.

Tony nodded and turned for the door. "I'll see you then."

"'Bye," Tyler said, smile playing around his eyes as he watched Tony go.

Someday, their relationship might even make sense to him.
