tyler_goneNo one should have been surprised that Tyler and Tony powered through the coffee in their hotel room well before they stopped wanting coffee. Long before, in fact, so quickly that they couldn't really call and ask for more. (Or at least Tyler couldn't.)
Anyhow, it was time for some fresh air. Tyler was on his way back from some chain coffee shop he loathed when the three men surrounded him.
He might even have been alarmed if they hadn't started with a "Mr. Durden, sir." That knocked it down to the realm of the annoying.
"Who's asking?" Tyler asked, balancing the little cardboard coffee tray on his palms.
"Project Mayhem, sir," the one with the busted lip, the spokesmonkey, said. "We wanted to know what your plans for us in town are, sir."
"We've been at the mall," the smaller of the two others added, before he was silenced with a glare from the spokesmonkey.
"We will give you a full briefing if you require such at this time, sir," Busted Lip added.
Tyler resisted the urge to bury his head in his hands; it would spill the coffee. "I don't do that shit anymore."
"Sir, you said not to believe you if you ever said that," Busted Lip claimed, confusion scurrying across his blank face.
"I probably did," Tyler told his shoes, before looking up and making himself go harder."It's just ... you have the wrong guy, all right? I don't want any trouble."
The space monkeys exchanged uncertain glances and shrugs. "Then our apologies," Busted Lip finally said. "Go on your way, sir."
"And happy holidays," the big one who had been quiet piped up, as the other two glared.
But they stepped aside and Tyler left, worrying and wondering if he could talk Tony into spending the rest of their visit elsewhere.
"Follow him," Busted Lip told the little guy, once Tyler was out of earshot. "He has that guy with him. Something's wrong. It's for Tyler's own good that we find out."
The little guy always obeyed orders.
