Office Hours, Monday, 1/19

Tyler was cranky when he got to work, and had debated just staying home with the phone unplugged. It would spare him students randomly trying to get in touch to either hit on him, ask to kill things, or just be very confusing.

But home would mean eventually dealing with Lindsay. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew he didn't want to see her mad.

So he came to work and spent a lot of his morning just staring at the pile of papers on his desk. He was sure something in them would make sense, eventually.

Tyler considered this for a moment. "Did she think you needed to stuff your bra, too?" he asked. "And I've seen her bed. It's not that big."

"Really?" Now he wanted to know how Tyler had seen her bed.

"I do live with her, Tony."

He'd seen her bed from the doorway.

"Right." He nodded to the donuts. "Are you going to have them or should I find some other poor teacher to give them to?"

"Nah. I think I could eat them," he said, reaching into the bag and selecting a chocolate-frosted one. "What were you trying to call me about, anyhow?"

"I was hoping someone would distract me from the bad science of the Discovery Channel," Tony said, going for the polite option. "Though, apparently someone else got that message and thought I was drunk."

"Were you?"

It was a reasonable question.

Was not--okay so maybe it was. "No."

There was a pause before he added, "So, if Steve does that blushing thing at you, you'll know why."

Tyler's face made friends with the palm of his hand. "You told Steve about us?" he asked. "What did he say?"

He wanted to know how much blushing he might need to worry about, here.

"He thought my message was for him," Tony replied easily. "And I informed him who the real recipient was."

He shrugged, stealing a donut. "He seemed to think it explained a lot about the me from his home."

"Huh." That didn't sound so bad. "You from back home has a thing for bearded teachers, too?"

"If he managed to have half my taste..." Tony replied, trailing off there for no reason. Really.

"No, no, you're implying I'm the result of good taste?"

Yes, Tyler was preening a little. Shut up.

"Something like that." Tony took a sip of his coffee so he wouldn't need to answer more. "So. Should I take your little call from your TA as a threat?"

Distraction. He was good at it.

Tyler was flattered for almost ten whole seconds. "Ino's 15, blonde and very perky in this scary ninja way," he informed Tony, hiding his laugh behind a hand. "Jealous?"

"Unless your tastes run to a few things I'm sure are illegal..." Tony sniffed, completely unaffected. "No."

"... now I'm really not going to be able to look her in the eye," Tyler informed him, biting into his donut.

"Good." Tony grinned and leaned over, resting his hands on Tyler's desk after divesting himself of the coffee mug.

"You're a strange man," Tyler said, grinning and tilting his head back to look Tony in the eyes.

"Who, if you noticed, brought you some very nice pastries after being stood up last night. So you should be nicer to me."

"Are donuts pastries?" Tyler queried, just to be a jerk. "I'd call them baked goods."

"They're deep fried, actually. Try to keep up."

"Ah." Tyler, who had known that perfectly well, nodded wisely. "I'm not the supergenius here."

"How sound proofed are these offices?" Tony asked, as if that was a perfectly normal question.

"I have hallways on three sides and no one else in this wing having office hours today," Tyler replied. "I could do almost whatever I wanted and no one would complain."

He might have had some idea where Tony was going with this.
