Office Hours, 11/24

The first thing Tyler did when he got to his office today was to fasten the head of Smoochy to the wall over his desk, like some perverse big-game trophy.

The second thing was to grimace and swallow a palmful of Tylenols. Stretching and hammering things in was not the brightest idea given his cracked rib.

But being able to glance up at ol' Smooch's disembodied purple plushiness as he did his paperwork totally made it worth it.

Tyler thought about this, but gave up quickly. "I don't know everybody well enough to have a good guess," he admitted. "Could you tell when they were put in?"

Tony shook his head. "No, but I'll be working on tracing them back to the receiver as soon as I can crack into the technology."

He was almost gleeful about it.

"That sounds kind of hot when you say it," Tyler observed flatly.

He might have been teasing.

"No, hot would be me bringing up how I'm going to rewire the bugs to lead me back to whoever they belong to, then figure out the technology and utilize it for myself."

"So you get the profit without doing the development work?" Tyler said. "I dunno. That might be kind of lazy."

He was definitely teasing now.

"Have you ever tried to reverse engineer something?" Tony asked haughtily. "It's not easy, I promise you that."

"I have not, but I'll take your word on that," Tyler said. "COuld you tell how long they'd been there?"

Tony shook his head, glancing away. "If someone was going to blackmail me with what they heard, it would've happened by now."

"Then whoever it is, they just want the information," Tyler summarized, grim. "That's creepier, Tony."

"It's my apartment, Tyler. Believe me, I know."

"I know you know," Tyler told him, eyes skittering to the ceiling like it would have something intelligent to say about all of this. "Offer to stay with me is open anytime."

Tony looked at him out of the corner of his eye for a moment, thinking it over. "And have bugs at your place?" He said lightly. "I'll just have to up my security systems."

A beat.

"Speaking of which, I met the bodyguard."

"The babysitter?" Tyler asked, setting the question of the bugs to the side for now. "What's she like?"

"Attractive. I think she could kick my ass."

"Always a nice quality in a woman," Tyler said. "Which reminds me, we have to get in some training before we go to my world. You up for it?"

"You just want to knock me on my back," Tony replied, crossing his arms over his chest.

"... and there's a problem with that?"

"...no, but I'd like to have a drink bought for me first."

"I can do that too," Tyler informed him. "Wednesday?"

"I'll meet you at the gym," Tony replied. "You can buy me a drink after."
